Real Estate – Then and Now

There was a time when Rosalie and I would show up for our open homes, whack up the inspection flag in a front garden that has been manicured to within an inch of its life, only to wait patiently for someone to show up…

Those days are long gone.

Now, we arrive to be greeted by expectant mums and dads with kids in tow, young professionals and canny investors, all of whom are hoping that this Saturday will mark their exit from the real estate roller coaster.

The Million Dollar Question

These days, buyers are often looking at prices over a million dollars. Why?

When there are regularly 15-25 buyers registering for an auction, it only takes a quick look around to see that demand is far exceeding supply.

When we talk to expectant buyers about their choices, their dreams – and where they want to put their hard-earned money – their answers echo our own thoughts when we meet colleagues to discuss real estate over coffee at The Counter, or with friends at our local pub, the Newo: The Inner West is the place to be.

With an increasing number of people searching for properties within this area, and few sellers wanting to leave, there is no property surplus.

Lifestyle Driven Demand

Why the Inner West, when there are more financially attractive alternatives?

If there is one thing that we can all put our finger on – along with all the many good things we know already about the Inner West – it is time.

Time is life and we want to live it as we choose – not by spending hours in a traffic jam, or paying ridiculous tolls going nowhere fast.

The answer to that million dollar question, and the choice being made by Inner West buyers, is a lifestyle one – community, convenience, an abundance of amazing coffee shops, cheap public transport, vibrant street culture, friendly bars and lovely parks.

What we have is a perfect storm in Sydney’s real estate market – and there doesn’t appear to be a change coming any time soon.

Rosalie and I have been in this business a long time and we know the trends and markers. We also understand how difficult it can be to navigate these waters while staying afloat and getting on with your day-to-day. If you feel that you need a bit of advice or guidance, give us a call – we’re happy to share our knowledge and experience and would love to hear from you.

Are you interested in attending an Auction? Would you like to know more? Register your interest and we’ll be in touch.

We are always on the look-out for ways to help people make a property choice that is right for them, and we are recognised as the experts in the Inner West’s real estate market. If you have something you would like to ask, just leave a comment, or give us a call.
